Our early childhood education entrepreneurship services are designed to provide business insight to prospective and existing childcare entrepreneurs for home and center-based businesses. We provide business development counseling, workshops and classes, and access to capital through loan packaging and microloans to new and established providers. Program participants will follow a step by step process to develop a business and marketing plan, policies and procedures for their childcare business, a parent handbook and a sound understanding of business financials.

The WBDC workshop series includes sessions on the following topics:

• Record keeping & taxes
• Marketing

• Childcare entrepreneurs 2 or more years in business
• Established Licensed home providers
• Established childcare center providers

Take the workshop Starting a Business in Illinois to determine the feasibility of your business idea and explore the legal issues associated with getting started. Then, register for the Developing your Childcare Business series Along the way, sign up for an individualized, in-person, or phone session with a WBDC business advisor for help launching or growing your business. Furthermore, visit the Illinois Network of Childcare Resource and Referral Agencies for more information about Gateways to Opportunity professional development support system. Note that the WBDC’s Developing Your Childcare Business course sessions provide Gateways credit for each session taken.
