Celebrate Women’s History Month

This month and throughout the year, the Women’s Business Development Center celebrates visionary women who have advocated for peace in our communities and driven change in our businesses and government. Their commitment and sacrifice have improved our world for women, minorities, and other underserved populations.

As we’ve earned more parity, women have made great social, economic, and political strides. In 2018, the U.S. celebrated the election of a record number of women to Congress and more women than ever hold leadership positions on key committees – including two women leading the House Appropriations committee: Nita Lowey and Kay Granger. The last time two women ran a House committee was 1977. The panel? The Select Committee on the House Beauty Shop.

This Women’s History Month the WBDC is celebrating the outstanding achievements of women in our government, businesses, and communities. They are the lifeblood of our economy and our business and political landscapes are changing because of their leadership.

But we know there’s a lot more work to be done. So, we promise to continue advocating for social change by promoting entrepreneurship and economic independence for all women across the country, and especially in the communities we serve. Ensuring women have the means to support themselves and their families is essential to securing women’s equality in society.

Today, this month, and throughout the year, it is our honor and privilege to support and work alongside the pioneering women who have shaped our past and are building our future.
